Opening Ceremonies in the books!

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Several hundred players, fans and volunteers gathered to witness the 2017 Central Region Junior Softball Regional Opening Ceremonies, held Friday, 7/21 at Veterans Memorial Park.

The festivities included the parade of State Champions, a color guard provided by world-renowned Chicago-based Pipe and Drum band The Shannon Rovers, introduction of key volunteer staff, a welcome and ceremonial pitch by Mayor Don DeGraff, comments by a representative of the Southland Chamber of Commerce as well as a welcome from Sandy Ducat, Tournament Director and District Administrator of Illinois District 6 Little League.

The ceremonies also featured a 'spirit' contest where each participating team presented a cheer.  After much deliberation by the volunteer umpire staff, Wisconsin's Oak Creek Little League were declared the 2017 Tournament Spirit Winners.
