Congratulations to Lynwood Little League - host of the 2017 Central Region Little League Urban Initiative Tournament

SOUTH HOLLAND and LYNWOOD, IL - The 2017 Central Region Junior Softball Regional Tournament Committee wishes to congratulate Illinois District 6 member - Lynwood Little League, on being selected once again to host this year's Central Region Urban Initiative Tournament.  The tournament will be held 6/24-6/25 at Lakeview Community Park in Lynwood, IL.  This will be the second year in a row that Lynwood has hosted the tournament.

The Urban Initiative is a program administered by Little League International (Williamsport, PA) and provides resources to leagues in urban areas that are either underserved or unable to build programs due to a lack of funds and/or other support.

The tournament will host ten (10) teams from around the 12-state Central Region for a weekend-long tournament.  Teams participating are local league teams, selected to represent their home leagues.  The selected teams are not all-star teams, but regular league teams that get a chance to play in this special event.

Likewise, volunteer umpires will also come from across the Central Region to give their time to this great tournament.

The tournament will feature 10 games per day both Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday running two fields simultaneously starting at 9am.  Sunday will start with games running simultaneously at 9am and moving into bracket rounds with the Tournament Championship game starting around 4:00pm.

Congratulations to Lynwood Little League and good luck with the tournament!
