DAY 4 UPDATE

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - The tournament finished with two great games that led to the tournament championship. 

Early in the day, Norridge Harwood Heights (IL) defeated Oak Creek (WI) in a closely fought game to then meet Poland Community (OH) for the Championship Game.  The Championship game was a tightly contested game where Poland prevailed, winning the Regional title for the second year in a row.

Congratulations to Poland Community Little League (OH) on winning the 2017 Central Region Junior Softball Regional Tournament.  Poland will represent Central Region at the Junior League World Series in Kirkland, WA.   The World Series starts on July 30 and runs through August 5th.

Thank you to players, managers, coaches, fans, friends and volunteers for another GREAT tournament and tournament experience!

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Weather forced the tournament to shuffle the schedule a bit, as well as eventually suspend a game due to darkness.

3PM - MI (9) vs. IA (7) - Top 7th, SUSPENDED DUE TO DARKNESS, GAME WILL RESUME AT 8AM Monday 7/24
5:30PM - OH vs. WI - MOVED TO 3:30PM CDT, Monday 7/24

Note - there was a technical issue with the KY/MO game on GameChanger.  The final score is accurate, however, the scoresheet and stats will not be correct.

8AM - Continuation of MI vs. IA from 7/23, Loser is eliminated from the tournament.
9AM - IL vs. Winner of MI/IA, Loser is eliminated from the tournament.

3:30PM - Rescheduled OH vs. WI from 7/23, Winner to play for Tournament Championship

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Due to the incredible work done by the South Holland Parks and Recreation Department, along with Mother Nature, the tournament was able to absorb a 2.5 hour delay and complete the originally scheduled games for Saturday!

GAME START DELAYED - Target 1PM Start

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - The overnight deluge has impacted the ability for the tournament to start on time today, however, games are targeted to start at 1pm CDT weather and field quality permitting.

Scheduled games today would include:

1pm - KENTUCKY VS. WISCONSIN

3PM - MISSOURI VS. ILLINOIS

5PM - OHIO VS. IOWA

The INDIANA vs. MICHIGAN game would be played at 9am on Sunday morning, 7/23 and all games scheduled for Sunday will move forward one game slot in the original schedule.  The last game on Sunday will move to Monday at 9am.

Opening Ceremonies in the books!

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Several hundred players, fans and volunteers gathered to witness the 2017 Central Region Junior Softball Regional Opening Ceremonies, held Friday, 7/21 at Veterans Memorial Park.

The festivities included the parade of State Champions, a color guard provided by world-renowned Chicago-based Pipe and Drum band The Shannon Rovers, introduction of key volunteer staff, a welcome and ceremonial pitch by Mayor Don DeGraff, comments by a representative of the Southland Chamber of Commerce as well as a welcome from Sandy Ducat, Tournament Director and District Administrator of Illinois District 6 Little League.

The ceremonies also featured a 'spirit' contest where each participating team presented a cheer.  After much deliberation by the volunteer umpire staff, Wisconsin's Oak Creek Little League were declared the 2017 Tournament Spirit Winners.

Immediately following the Opening Ceremonies, the teams and fans enjoyed a donated pizza banquet featuring pizza from local favorite Aurelio's.  In addition, banquet attendees were treated to a live performance from Jonathan Moody of the Jonathan Moody Band (http://www.jonathanmoodyband.com) who traveled from Houston to perform for the event.

The schedule will feature 4 games on Saturday, 5 games on Sunday, 3 games on Monday and 3 games on Tuesday.

Texas Musician Jonathan Moody set to play Tournament Opener!

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Texan Americana music performer Jonathan Moody is set to perform at the opening ceremonies for the Junior Regional Tournament!

Due to a scheduling challenge, originally scheduled band MIDNIGHT is unable to perform at the tournament and Jonathan Moody has graciously stepped in because of the cause!  Check out his band and their music - http://www.jonathanmoodyband.com

Jonathan Moody is an Americana musician and native Texan who grew up playing baseball and spent his Sundays singing a cappella in his father’s church.  He’s an Aggie from College Station and loves Texas.  He played baseball in college before picking up an acoustic guitar in San Antonio where he began writing songs and today performs favorite popular music at clubs that have included events on both the Grand Old Opry and The House of Blues stages.  Aside from performing, Jonathan loves to visit with friends around a fire and watch movies in his Hill Country home located southwest of Boerne.  His musical influences are vast.  Jonathan had his first 6-song EP release in April of 2013 that includes all original songs and he looks forward to sharing his music with you.

Please come out and witness the fervor that is Jonathan Moody!  Performance starts immediately after opening ceremonies - approximately 7pm in the Band Shell at Veterans Memorial Park.
